NEAR adds 20 tokenized US stocks via Ondo

Eligible users of NEAR can now access 20 tokenized US stocks, exchange-traded funds and commodity-linked products after the network partnered with Ondo Finance, Crypto.news reported on September 22, 2026. The initial set includes Tesla, Nvidia, Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, the Invesco QQQ Trust, the iShares Silver Trust and the iShares Gold Trust, reachable through near.com and NEAR Intents.

Ondo said the integration allows eligible near.com users to swap supported crypto assets for tokenized securities inside a single account, with availability depending on location and eligibility rules. Neither US persons nor users in several other jurisdictions can access Ondo Stocks under the product’s current securities restrictions.

Key facts

  • NEAR and Ondo Finance are offering 20 tokenized assets, including Tesla, Nvidia, Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, QQQ, SLV and IAU, per Crypto.news.
  • More than 30 connected blockchains can route supported crypto assets into Ondo Stocks through NEAR Intents, with Bitcoin and USDC among the funding options.
  • Ondo Stocks are not registered under the Securities Act of 1933 and cannot be offered or sold in the United States or to US persons unless registered or exempt.
  • Ondo says its securities platform holds more than $1 billion in total value locked and has processed over $26 billion in cumulative trading volume.
  • Cointelegraph reported that approved institutions can convert stocks directly into tokenized shares using an in-kind route available on Ethereum and BNB Chain.

How the NEAR routing works

NEAR Intents lets users state the result they want rather than manually selecting bridges and transaction paths. Independent solvers then compete to find and execute a route between the relevant networks and assets, spanning Bitcoin, Ethereum, NEAR, Tron and BNB Chain, among more than 30 blockchains. After purchase, users can hold the tokenized product or exchange it back into USDC or another supported crypto asset.

Wallets, decentralized finance protocols and applications connected to NEAR Intents can route eligible users toward Ondo Stocks, though each participating service may apply its own interface and compliance procedures. Alex Shevchenko, CEO of Defuse Labs, the developer behind NEAR Intents, said bringing financial markets onchain should give people more control over their money and more choice in how they transact. Armand Khatri, head of ecosystem at Ondo Finance, said the goal was for investors to reach these assets from the networks and accounts where they already hold capital.

NEAR has also built a private version of the system for financial transactions. In September, the protocol crossed $70 million in confidential total value locked, triggering the first snapshot for an incentive program tied to Confidential Intents, which routes transactions through a private NEAR shard. The announcement did not say that purchases of the 20 tokenized assets would receive those privacy functions.

Ondo’s institutional conversion route

Separately, Cointelegraph reported on September 21, 2026, that Ondo introduced an in-kind conversion system letting approved institutions mint and redeem tokenized stocks and ETFs using the underlying securities instead of cash. Participants transfer shares from Alpaca accounts to Ondo through an internal book transfer, with corresponding Ondo Stocks tokens issued onchain; the process also runs in reverse. The conversions are currently available on Ethereum and BNB Chain and require approved institutional clients with active accounts at both Alpaca and Ondo.

Ondo’s existing cash-funded model still required an institution holding the underlying shares to provide separate cash to mint tokens. The new route lets institutions use those shares instead, which Ondo said could reduce financing costs and timing mismatches between traditional shares and tokenized positions. Cointelegraph cited RWA.xyz data showing about $3.63 billion in distributed assets across 441 products, ranking Ondo second behind Securitize.

Bitcoinist reported that Bitget Wallet integrated Reality to add more than 1,700 tokenized stocks and ETFs, initially across Arbitrum and Morph, alongside existing support for providers such as Ondo and xStocks. Bitget Wallet is restricted in the United States, consistent with the tighter treatment of tokenized US securities there. That article did not give a figure for the platform of tokens in Bitget’s rollout, and the NEAR and Ondo totals are not directly comparable because the products and issuers differ.

Why it matters

The NEAR deal adds another distribution channel for Ondo, which had already deployed tokenized securities on Ethereum, Solana and BNB Chain and in June connected 35 assets to Hyperliquid’s HyperEVM through infrastructure built with LayerZero. The restrictions separate the offshore Ondo Stocks service from the SEC’s pathway for tokenized National Market System stocks, since tokens offering only synthetic price exposure do not qualify under that framework. For eligible non-US users, wallets and apps become a direct front end to products that historically required a brokerage account.

What to watch

How quickly NEAR and Ondo expand beyond the initial 20 assets and which jurisdictions are cleared next will determine the size of the reachable user base, while Ondo’s request to the SEC for registered on-chain distribution and the FINRA authorizations tied to its Oasis Pro Markets subsidiary will shape whether the product can ever be offered inside the United States.
