Chainlink launched Chainlink 24/7 at the Link NYC conference on October 29, 2026, a pricing service that keeps tokenized stocks, commodities and other real-world assets quoted through weekends and market holidays. Aave is the launch partner, Coinpedia reported.

The gap the product addresses is structural: stock exchanges close overnight, at weekends and on holidays, while blockchains do not. That leaves onchain lending protocols without a dependable collateral value, and according to Crypto Briefing and Bitcoinist, Chainlink’s answer is to combine two data sources rather than publish a single frozen number.

Key facts

  • Chainlink 24/7 was announced on October 29, 2026, in a post from Chainlink’s official X account.
  • Aave is the first partner, planning to use the feeds on Horizon, its institutional lending platform, starting with high-volume US equities.
  • During weekday trading, the service draws on regular and extended sessions; when venues shut, it uses an off-hours reference built from perpetual futures quotes.
  • Chainlink says its existing weekday infrastructure covers more than $1.6 billion in tokenized stocks across six blockchain networks since January 2026.
  • Co-founder Sergey Nazarov said on a live conference on X that Chainlink holds approximately 65% of the global market share in infrastructure serving much of decentralized finance and onchain lending.

How the weekend price is built

Blockchains cannot read outside data on their own, so oracles deliver prices to smart contracts. Chainlink’s existing 24/5 coverage, which debuted in January 2026, already spans pre-market, post-market and overnight sessions for US equities. What it did not cover was the weekend and holidays, and 24/7 is designed to close that hole.

When traditional markets shut entirely, the system aggregates quotes from multiple perpetual futures venues, discards stale inputs and caps the weight of outliers, according to Bitcoinist. Crypto Briefing noted that perpetual futures are derivatives with no expiry date that trade around the clock on crypto-native exchanges. The reports agree on the mechanism, and both make the same qualification: the weekend figure reflects derivatives trading, not transactions on closed exchanges.

Delivery differs by use case. Lending protocols read prices through Chainlink’s Data Feeds, while trading venues and prediction markets can use Data Streams for faster updates, which also flag the current market session so applications can adjust risk settings, Bitcoinist reported.

Why Aave needs a Sunday price

Lending protocols continuously check whether a borrower’s collateral still covers a loan. If that collateral is a tokenized stock whose price stops moving from Friday night to Monday morning, the protocol has no basis for setting loan terms or managing liquidation risk over the weekend. Aave, the largest DeFi lending protocol by total value locked, wants the feeds on Horizon so tokenized real-world asset collateral can be valued continuously.

The adoption is an extension of an existing relationship rather than a new one. Aave had already taken on parts of Chainlink’s infrastructure, including its 24/5 streams, Crypto Briefing reported. Coinpedia framed the integration around the same practical problem: institutions need collateral valuations that hold up when exchanges are offline. Crypto Briefing and Bitcoinist both list Ondo, xStocks, Robinhood and Coinbase among users of Chainlink’s tokenized stock pricing; Coinpedia’s account does not name them.

Why it matters

Continuous pricing removes one of the more awkward compromises in tokenized finance, where protocols previously had to freeze markets, carry the last known price forward, or build their own valuation tools. One feed per asset also replaces a patchwork of several integrations. For institutional borrowers, a defensible price at any hour on the calendar is part of the risk-control checklist before capital moves onchain.

What to watch

The open question is how closely weekend futures-based quotes track where a stock actually opens on Monday, which will determine how much weight protocols give the number. How quickly Horizon widens beyond its initial high-volume US equities is the next indicator of demand.
