The XRP Ledger Foundation has added Flare to its recommended validator list and dropped Anodos Finance at the firm’s own request, Crypto.news reported. The change leaves the foundation and Ripple publishing matching sets of 35 validator keys.
The swap was announced on Oct. 28. According to U.Today, the foundation posted the update on X and described Flare as aligned with the network’s core values and active in XRPL governance. Flare thanked the foundation and the reviewers who assessed its application, U.Today reported.

Key facts
- The foundation’s published payload held 35 entries under sequence number 2026102701 when Crypto.news checked it around 8:35 p.m. UTC on Oct. 28.
- Ripple’s separately published payload, sequence number 86, contained the same 35 validation public keys, with no keys unique to either publisher.
- Both payloads carried a validator manifest with the domain xrpl-verification.flare.network.
- Anodos asked to be removed as it prepares to shut down its XRPL validator by the end of October.
- The foundation’s announcement included no payment, grant or FXRP product launch, Crypto.news said.
What the list does and does not decide
XRPL documentation describes the default server configuration as combining the recommended lists from the foundation and Ripple, counting a validator that appears on both only once. The two lists are typically similar or identical. Membership in a published list is a recommendation; it does not determine which validators an individual server operator trusts.
Servers use a Unique Node List to decide whose votes count during consensus. Operators can set their own, though the documentation says substantial overlap between servers is needed to avoid disagreements over validated ledgers. Publishers set inclusion criteria and add or remove operators, but they do not validate transactions through that publishing role.

XRPL’s FAQ says candidates are judged on past performance, verified identities and IT practices. Validators order transactions and agree on that ordering to prevent double spending. Running one carries no fee, requires no XRP and earns no XRP rewards; the FAQ cites network reliability and stable development as reasons businesses run them.
Flare’s XRP work predates the listing
Flare activated FXRP on mainnet in September 2025 with version 1.2 of its FAssets protocol and a first-week minting cap of 5 million FXRP, per earlier Crypto.news reporting. FXRP is a one-to-one representation of XRP backed by an overcollateralized system of independent agents.
By July 28, Flare had added single-signature vault deposits through Smart Accounts v1.3, combining two XRPL signatures into one so users can mint FXRP and deposit it into a vault without a separate EVM wallet or gas token. Listed connections included D’CENT, Xaman, Joey Wallet, Ledger and WalletConnect.
On Aug. 3, Flare said Sentora had accepted FXRP as collateral in its RLUSD Main vault on Morpho, enabling FXRP holders to borrow RLUSD on Ethereum within the market’s loan-to-value limit. An Oct. 6 Flare update said Firelight had gone live with cover for Sentora’s USD Protected Vault and Protected RWA Vaults, with FXRP stakers supplying capital and a five-firm Risk Consortium reviewing eligible events; staked capital and rewards are subject to slashing.
Why it matters
List placement shapes which operators many servers weight in consensus, so Flare’s entry gives an XRP-focused DeFi project a formal role in the recommendations that most default configurations follow. Anodos exits the same list as it winds down its validator, part of routine turnover among the firms and universities that appear alongside Ripple, XRPL Labs, Bithomp, GateHub, Peersyst Technology and XRPL Commons, per U.Today.
What to watch
Anodos’ stated plan to retire its validator by the end of October is the next concrete milestone. After that, the sequence numbers on the foundation’s and Ripple’s payloads will show whether the two lists stay identical.
