Strategy shareholders have approved an amendment that lets the company’s four preferred stocks accrue dividends on every calendar day, including weekends and holidays, with preliminary results showing 99.3% of votes cast in favor, according to Decrypt. Executive chairman Michael Saylor announced the result on Wednesday after a special stockholder meeting.
The amendment applies to STRF, STRC, STRK and STRD. STRC will move first, with its first daily record date on November 1 and payment on November 2. The other three preferreds follow on January 1, 2027, with payment on January 4, Decrypt reported.

Key facts
- 99.3% of votes cast backed the amendment, per preliminary results cited by Saylor and reported by Decrypt.
- STRC’s first daily record date is November 1, 2026, with payment November 2; STRF, STRK and STRD follow in January 2027.
- Strategy said dividend rates and total dividend obligations are unchanged, according to Bitcoinmagazine.
- The change remains conditional on Strategy filing amended terms for each stock, Decrypt reported, and Bitcoinmagazine noted the board must act before any new schedule begins.
- STRC traded at $99.86 on Wednesday, just below its $100 par value, per Decrypt.
How the daily schedule works
Under the new structure, every calendar day becomes a record date, with payment on the next business day. Because U.S. markets are closed on weekends, the Depository Trust Company will treat weekend and holiday record dates as falling on the prior business day, and Nasdaq will apply the same ex-dividend date, according to Decrypt.
Strategy’s own example: dividends with record dates of Friday, November 6, Saturday, November 7 and Sunday, November 8 would all be treated as a Friday record date and paid together on Monday, November 9. A buyer of STRC on that Friday would receive none of the three dividends, while a seller that day would receive all three.

Drawing on the reports, Cointelegraph noted the company’s preferred securities carry annual dividend rates ranging from 8% to 12%, with STRC on a variable rate currently at 12%. The others pay fixed dividends, and STRK gives holders an option to convert into Strategy common stock. Bitcoinmagazine reported STRC’s rate for the month ended June 30, 2026, was 11.50%.
Bitcoinmagazine also traced the timeline: the proposal surfaced on September 25, when the company asked holders to attend the October 28 special meeting. Shareholders had already approved moving STRC to semi-monthly payments in June.
Pressure on STRC and the Bitcoin pause
Strategy proposed the change last month, saying it would help dampen volatility in its preferred shares. For STRC that means moving from 24 record dates a year to 365, Decrypt reported. Cointelegraph described the goals as shortening the gap between earning dividends and receiving cash while supporting liquidity and price stability.
The vote lands after a stretch of weakness in Bitcoin and in Strategy’s own stock. Bitcoinmagazine reported the company paused Bitcoin purchases for the prior week, holding 848,517 BTC acquired for $64.02 billion at an average price of $75,446 per coin, and spent $204.9 million repurchasing STRC while keeping a $4.83 billion cash reserve. It added that MSTR is down near 50% over the past year.
Strategy also faces possible removal from MSCI’s equity indexes. Decrypt reported the index provider finalized a rule this month treating companies whose balance sheets are dominated by a single asset as ineligible, with the affected list to be published November 11.
Peer bitcoin-treasury firm Strive has paid daily cash dividends on its SATA preferred stock since June 16, after moving from monthly payments, Bitcoinmagazine noted. Cointelegraph added that Strive closed a $630 million SATS offering on October 20 — 7 million shares at $90 each — with daily payments on that security scheduled to begin November 9, subject to declaration. It ranked Strive fourth among corporate Bitcoin holders with 43,000 BTC.
Why it matters
Preferred shares are the instrument Strategy has leaned on to raise capital for its Bitcoin treasury, and daily accrual is meant to make them easier to hold and price. The step follows Strive into more frequent payouts, sharpening competition among treasury companies for yield-focused investors. It also arrives as Strategy’s buyback activity and a paused purchase cadence show how tied its preferred securities are to Bitcoin’s moves.
These are dividend-schedule changes, not forecasts of future yields or returns, and the preferred market remains volatile. This is not financial advice.
What to watch
Two concrete steps remain: Strategy must file amended terms for each stock and its board must act before the new schedule starts. Investors should also watch MSCI’s November 11 publication of companies affected by its single-asset rule, and the November 2 first STRC payment.
