Launched in 2017, CryptoPunks are considered one of the earliest and most influential NFT projects, with each of the 10,000 unique characters being algorithmically generated and stored on the Ethereum blockchain.

CryptoPunk #491, a digital character from this series, is currently up for bidding with an estimate ranging from $70,000 to $100,000. As of writing, the bidding has reached $48,000.

This auction follows previous high-profile sales of CryptoPunks, including the notable sale of CryptoPunk #7523, which fetched $11.8 million at a Sotheby’s auction in 2021.
