Marvel Premiere: Wakanda Forever’ Became Disney+’s Most-Watched

Disney+ today revealed that “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” which had its streaming debut five days ago, is now the most-watched Marvel premiere on the service based on hours streamed in the first five days.
It’s unclear how the movie’s streaming compares to other Marvel films on Disney+ because Disney didn’t give detailed watching figures. The assertion indicates, however, that the “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” premiere outperformed well-known series like “Black Widow” and “Avengers: Endgame.”
Our best assumption is that the new Disney+ streaming record will result in lengthier intervals between theatrical and streaming releases for upcoming Marvel movies. In general, films that have a lengthy theatrical run are more likely to stick in viewers’ memories than streaming-only films that might not garner as much buzz.
The longest window of any Marvel film on the streaming service, “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” required Disney+ subscribers to wait 82 days for it to stream. In contrast, “Thor: Love and Thunder” debuted on Disney+ 62 days following its theatrical debut.
On November 11, 2022, the “Black Panther” prequel was released in theaters, and it made over $800 million globally. In addition to winning the Golden Globe for Starring Role by an Actress in a Supporting Role, it received five Oscar nominations.
