Mediawan and Plan B Entertainment Form Global Production Platform

Mediawan has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire a significant portion of Plan B from Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner. By collaborating with Plan B, Mediawan moves outside of its primary European markets and into the United States.

Plan B recently increased their television work with several projects, including The Underground Railroad, which won a BAFTA and a Peabody Award, Outer Range, starring Josh Brolin for Amazon, Lego Masters for Fox, and Tegan & Sara’s High School for Amazon’s Freevee.

The second season of Feud was produced in collaboration with Ryan Murphy for FX and the impending Netflix original series Three-Body Problem by David Benioff, D.B. Weiss, and Alex Woo.

KKR, Atwater Capital, and Vania Schlogel are among the strategic partners that support Xavier Niel, Pierre-Antoine Capton, and Matthieu Pigasse’s company.

This groundbreaking collaboration between Mediawan and Plan B—leaders in separate production in the U.S. and Europe —will forge fruitful synergies in the areas of talent acquisition and IP securing while enhancing their already robust content slate with an eye toward a more international audience.

The purchase by Mediawan is in line with the company’s plan to expand outside of Europe and into English-speaking regions to create global productions and unite the best creative minds anywhere they wish to work. A capital raise is used to finance this activity, which is backed by Mediawan’s shareholders: Atwater Capital, KKR, MACSF, Bpifrance, and Société Générale.

Plan B and Blue Morning Pictures, the production firm that Mediawan formed in 2022 with Oscar-winning directors Florian Zeller and Federica Sainte-Rose, will have significant holdings in Mediawan U.S.
