The year 2022 is coming to an end, which means it will soon be time to honor the developers, designers, and other contributors who worked on some of the year’s best games. Geoff Keighley, who also serves as the producer and host of the show, has disclosed the names of the candidates for the ninth iteration of the ceremony.
Elden Ring and Horizon Forbidden West are tied for second place with seven nominations each. God of War Ragnarok, which was released for PS4 and PS5, only a week ago, is in the first place of 10 nominations.
The excellent film stray was also recognized six times for its achievements. These four video games are all up for consideration for the title of game of the year. In addition, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and A Plague Tale: Requiem are going to be released.
As per the reports from the gaming industry, Sony Interactive Entertainment has the most number of nominations with 20 members, followed by Bandai Namco with eight and Riot Games with six, and Annapurna Interactive and Nintendo with 11 each.
If sources are to be believed, a new category has also been introduced this year, namely Best Adaptation, which is for movies based on games and shows.
As per the sources, the nominees are Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Uncharte, Cyberpunk: The Cuphead Show, Edgerunners, and Arcane: League of Legends.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, Splatoon 3, Tunic, Cult of the Lamb, Sifu, Marvel Snap, Immortality, Scorn, Lego Star Wars: MultiVersus, Vampire Survivor, Diablo Immortal, Overwatch 2, and The Skywalker Saga were among the titles that received nominations.
