NBC’s SNL to Feature Four New Cast Members in the Upcoming Season

Live from New York! It’s Saturday Night Live! One of the longest comedy sketches is back with some new faces. The comedy show announced that it has added four new cast members.

Molly Kearney, Marcello Hernandez, Devon Walker, and Michael Longfellow have joined the hit cast of SNL. The NBC series will make its comeback with its 48th season.

Kearney appeared in “The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers” on Disney+ and “A League of Their Own” on Amazon. Hernandez is an actor, comedian, and writer from Miami. He has also opened for comedians like Gilbert Gottfried and Tim Dillion.

Longfellow has been on Netflix’s “Introducing” and “Bring the Funny” on NBC. He was also selected for Comics to Watch in 2017’s New York Comedy Festival. Walker has voiced and written for the series “Big Mouth” and Freeform’s “Everything’s Trash”.

The newcomers will join after long-time cast members Aidy Bryant, Kate McKinnon, Pete Davidson, and Kyle Mooney announced their departures from the show. After them, Alex Moffat, Aristotle Athari, and Melissa Vllaseñor also announced their departure from the show.

Lorne Michaels, creator of the show, addressed the departures of so many cast members by saying that things and people are changing. There is a different generation that will come to the show.

Reportedly, he also said that the pandemic might have affected the decision of many cast members to leave the show. But Michaels, at the backstage of the Emmys, also said that he sees this new season as a “transition year”.

The new season of SNL is set to hit TV screens on 1st October on NBC. As of now, no hosts or musical guests have been announced yet. Many viewers want comedy legend Carol Burnett to host an episode.
